NOISE Festival vs Test Space - A Cross-City Showdown

Following the great success of the Cross-City Showdown in Leeds this week, NOISEfestival.com has teamed up with Test Space and Factory 4, once more for a one-off, cross-city showdown in Manchester. Artists from both Leeds and Manchester will be creating work and showcasing it at a rapid exhibition at NOISELAB, Manchester, on the Saturday 20th of November.

NOISEfestival.com and Test Space have selected three Leeds artists and three Manchester artists to each represent their city as the best in local creative talent across print, graphic design and illustration.

Artists will create a minimum of three pieces of work that relates to, interprets, or defines the city they are working in. Selected artists will be provided with space in Manchester with one day to create work. The work will then be showcased at a rapid exhibition the next day at NOISELAB.

Following an open call for submissions Test Space will also be showcasing a selection of work from Leeds based creatives at both exhibitions. NOISE Festival will also be showing a selection of the best work submitted to NOISEfestival.com.

Anonymous Art Postcard fundraising sale

NOISEfestival.com’s Secret Santa Sale consists of 200 original “one-off” postcard-sized artworks created and donated by leading artists including Red or Dead fashion label founder Wayne Hemingway, legendary singer-songwriter Elvis Costello, Academy Award winning Aardman Animations, Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, renowned doodlers John Burgerman and Pete Fowler, as well as Mancunian DJ and Producer Mr Scruff.

With established creatives selling alongside emerging talent from the NOISEfestival.com website, this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to purchase unique artwork on the high street, in time for the gift-giving season. The exclusive artworks are signed on the back so buyers don’t know the identity of the artist until they have purchased the postcard. Each art postcard will cost just £45, regardless of whether it has been made by a famous name or an emerging artist.

Artworks will be displayed in the windows of NOISELAB on Manchester’s Market Street for two weeks prior to the sale, for collectors to browse. The cards will be sold to the public during a one-day sale on Saturday 20th November.

Also for sale, and on display in the shop windows, are a series of large scale murals by Mark Wigan, Jon Burgerman and Pete Fowler, painted live at NOISELAB during 2010. Click here and search for the artists to find the listings.

All proceeds of the sale will go direct to the NOISE arts Charity, currently receiving no core funding for its work in promoting new talent. This fundraiser will help the organisation to continue their dedicated work to support original talent in Architecture, Fine Art, Moving Image, Photography, Fashion, Product Design, Word and Music.

Get down to NOISELAB early to avoid disappointment and get your first pick of a very unique piece of art.

See www.NOISEfestival.com/SecretSanta for more details and full list of artists.
